Why Design for Recovery?
Moving forward in recovery involves learning how to handle everyday life without returning to the patterns that once caused problems. At Design for Recovery, our homes give residents a place to practice that transition with structure around them. We want residents to become active participants in their recovery, making decisions, handling responsibilities, and learning from the experiences that come with greater independence.
The support is there without taking away personal responsibility. Residents are expected to contribute to the home, stay engaged with their recovery, and make progress toward their own goals while knowing they have a community around them when challenges arise.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingA predictable home environment helps residents create routines around work, recovery commitments, personal responsibilities, and everyday life.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents have clear expectations to follow while learning to recognize how their decisions affect their own progress and the people around them.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving with men who are also committed to sobriety provides opportunities to exchange encouragement, share experiences, and feel less isolated in recovery.
Growth Through IndependenceThe responsibilities residents take on each day help them become more capable of managing their schedules, decisions, and lives without relying on the structure of treatment.
Creating Space for Healthier Patterns
The environment surrounding you can influence the habits that become part of everyday life. Familiar places, relationships, or social situations connected to substance use can continue reinforcing old patterns even after treatment has ended.
Changing where you live can create some separation from those influences. A sober living home provides a substance-free setting where recovery is understood, expectations are clear, and the people around you are also working toward healthier lives.
For men from Artesia, Design for Recovery provides that change in environment while allowing residents to remain within reach of family, work, treatment, and the wider Southeast Los Angeles community.
