Why Design for Recovery
Choosing a men's sober living program is about more than having a place to stay. At Design for Recovery, we've created recovery residences where men can focus on rebuilding their lives with the support of a structured community, experienced guidance, and an environment that encourages lasting personal growth.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingConsistent routines and clear expectations help create stability and make healthy habits easier to maintain.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents are encouraged to take ownership of their recovery while receiving support from staff and peers.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving alongside other men working toward similar goals creates connection, encouragement, and mutual support throughout recovery.
Growth Through IndependenceEvery step is designed to help residents strengthen life skills, build confidence, and prepare for independent living.
Recovery Needs Room to Grow
Recovery can be difficult when every day includes reminders of the life you're trying to leave behind. Sometimes the greatest benefit isn't simply avoiding temptation. It's having the chance to experience daily life without constantly reacting to familiar environments, expectations, or pressures. A recovery residence creates that opportunity by giving healthy routines the time and space to become part of everyday life.
For men coming from Compton, supportive recovery housing offers that fresh perspective while keeping work, loved ones, and important commitments within reach.

What We Offer

Employment Support
Getting back into steady work often marks real progress in recovery. We help residents with resumes, interview preparation, and the job search itself, paired with the daily accountability needed to see it through.

Life and Recovery Skills
Sobriety tends to stick better when the rest of life feels manageable. Through daily structure and peer accountability, residents build habits like budgeting and follow-through that early recovery relies on.

12-Step Programming
Our program runs on 12-Step principles, and residents get genuine support finding a sponsor, attending meetings, and applying those values daily, not only while at a meeting.

One-on-One Mentoring
Residents also receive individual mentor time, a space to work through what's actually happening beneath the daily structure, not simply whether rules are being followed.

Money Management
Financial stress often quietly derails early recovery. Residents learn practical skills here: budgeting, saving, and money habits meant to last beyond their time in the house.

Family Services
We understand recovery reaches beyond just the resident. We help families understand what genuine support looks like right now, and how to stay close without becoming overbearing.

Medication Monitoring
For residents managing medications, staying consistent matters. We help track schedules and maintain the connection to prescribing clinicians so treatment stays on course.

Life in Our Sober Living Homes
Every home develops its own rhythm, and every resident contributes to it. Conversations over dinner, celebrating milestones together, offering encouragement after a difficult day, or simply knowing someone is there to listen all become part of everyday life. These moments help create a sense of belonging that many people haven't experienced in a long time.
Living in structured sober living also allows residents to see progress happening in real time. Challenges that once felt overwhelming gradually become easier to manage, relationships begin to improve, and goals that once seemed distant start feeling achievable.

The Path Through Admissions
The First Step
We start by understanding where things stand, whether you're reaching out for yourself or someone else. Our admissions team will talk through what kind of structure and support would genuinely help.
Finding the Right Setup
From there, we go over cost, logistics, and what's included, so nothing about move-in is a surprise. We work together to identify what matters most: job support, daily accountability, or meeting-based structure.
Settling In
Once it's confirmed as a fit, we cover exactly what move-in day looks like: meeting housemates, a full walkthrough, and expectations laid out clearly. Most residents feel settled within their first few days.
In Their Own Words
Alumni share what changed for them during their time with Design for Recovery.

Recovery Changes More Than Your Daily Routine
One of the most rewarding parts of recovery is seeing positive changes appear in areas of life that once felt disconnected from sobriety. Improved relationships, better physical health, clearer thinking, and renewed motivation often develop gradually as residents continue investing in themselves.
Reconnect With Your Personal Goals
Addiction can put ambitions on hold. Structured sober living gives residents the opportunity to refocus on education, career development, creative interests, or personal milestones that may have been neglected.
Learn to Enjoy Life Without Substances
Recovery creates space to experience everyday moments differently. Exploring new hobbies, spending time outdoors, exercising, or simply enjoying genuine conversations can become rewarding again.
Strengthen Emotional Resilience
Life will always include challenges, but recovery provides opportunities to respond with healthier coping strategies instead of returning to destructive habits. That resilience continues to grow through experience.
Build a Future With Intention
Living in a recovery home encourages residents to think beyond the present moment. Long-term goals become clearer, decisions become more intentional, and each step forward contributes to a more meaningful future.
