Why Design for Recovery
Choosing a men's sober living program is about more than finding a place to stay. At Design for Recovery, we provide recovery residences where men can continue growing through daily structure, meaningful peer support, and an environment that encourages lasting change.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingConsistent routines and clear expectations help create stability and make healthy habits easier to maintain.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents are encouraged to take ownership of their recovery while receiving support from staff and peers.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving alongside other men working toward similar goals creates connection, encouragement, and mutual support throughout recovery.
Growth Through IndependenceEvery step is designed to help residents strengthen life skills, build confidence, and prepare for independent living.
Recovery Is Easier When You Don't Have to Do It Alone
Many people begin recovery believing they have to rely entirely on willpower. In reality, lasting change is often strengthened by the people around you. Living alongside others who understand the challenges of recovery creates opportunities to learn from shared experiences, receive encouragement during difficult moments, and celebrate progress with people who genuinely understand what those milestones represent.
For men coming from Valley Village, structured sober living offers that daily support while remaining close to work, family, and the routines that continue beyond treatment.

What We Offer

Employment Support
Returning to steady work is frequently the first tangible marker of recovery progress. Residents get direct support with resumes, interview practice, and the job search itself, backed by daily accountability that keeps momentum going.

Life and Recovery Skills
The habits behind lasting sobriety (routine, follow-through, financial responsibility) take shape through daily house structure and the accountability that comes from living alongside other residents.

12-Step Programming
Our program is built on 12-Step principles. We support residents in finding a sponsor, attending meetings consistently, and applying those values well beyond the meetings themselves.

One-on-One Mentoring
Each resident also receives individual mentorship, dedicated time to address what's actually happening beneath the daily routine, not just whether expectations are being met.

Money Management
Financial instability is frequently an underestimated relapse risk. We help residents build practical money skills: budgeting, saving, and habits that continue serving them after they've left the house.

Family Services
Recovery affects the whole family, not just the individual resident. We work with families to clarify what genuine support looks like right now, and how to stay involved without becoming overbearing.

Medication Monitoring
For residents managing prescriptions, consistency is essential. We help maintain medication schedules and keep residents connected with their prescribing clinicians.

Life in Our Sober Living Homes
Recovery isn't about living the exact same day over and over. It's about noticing how each day begins to feel different.
A conversation that once would have ended in frustration becomes an opportunity to communicate more openly. A stressful afternoon becomes a chance to practice healthier coping strategies. Responsibilities that once felt overwhelming gradually become part of a normal routine. Those small shifts often become some of the clearest signs that recovery is taking hold.
Living in a recovery residence means having people around you who recognize those moments too. Progress isn't only measured by milestones—it's reflected in the everyday choices that continue moving life forward.

Admissions Explained
First Contact
We start by understanding where things stand, whether you're calling for yourself or someone else. Our admissions team will talk through what kind of structure and support would genuinely help.
Determining What Fits
From there, we cover cost, logistics, and what your stay includes, so nothing is a surprise before move-in. We work together to figure out what actually matters: job support, daily accountability, or meeting-based structure.
Move-In and Beyond
Once it's clear this is the right fit, we walk through what move-in day looks like: housemates, a house tour, and expectations laid out clearly. Most residents adjust within the first few days.
In Their Own Words
Alumni share what changed for them during their time with Design for Recovery.

Recovery Gives You the Confidence to Move Forward
One of the biggest changes many residents notice isn't simply staying sober. It's feeling more capable of handling life as it comes. Challenges become less intimidating, decisions become more thoughtful, and the future begins to feel like something to look forward to rather than something to fear.
Become More Comfortable With Responsibility
As daily routines become more consistent, responsibilities that once felt overwhelming begin to feel manageable.
Learn to Value Progress Over Perfection
Recovery isn't about getting everything right. It's about continuing to move forward, even after difficult days.
Build Friendships That Support Recovery
Healthy relationships play an important role in long-term sobriety. Sharing everyday life with people who understand your experiences creates opportunities for honest conversations, encouragement, and lasting friendships.
Prepare for Greater Independence
Every skill developed in sober living is intended to support life beyond the home. By the time residents are ready to move on, they often feel better prepared to manage work, relationships, finances, and everyday responsibilities with confidence.
