Why Design for Recovery
At Design for Recovery, residents are encouraged to take an active role in shaping what comes next. Our homes provide a consistent framework for managing responsibilities, making healthier decisions, and staying connected to recovery while residents work toward their individual goals.
The emphasis is on progress that carries into everyday life. Residents receive support and guidance, but they are also expected to participate, contribute, and gradually become more confident in managing life on their own.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingA dependable home environment gives residents a practical framework for balancing recovery with work, treatment, meetings, and personal responsibilities.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents learn to take ownership of their commitments and recognize how everyday decisions can either strengthen or disrupt their progress.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving alongside other men who understand the work of recovery creates opportunities for honest connection, encouragement, and shared perspective.
Growth Through IndependenceResidents build greater confidence by taking on responsibility for their routines, decisions, and daily lives as they move toward greater independence.
Creating Space Between You and Old Patterns
The environment someone returns to can influence how easily new habits take hold. Familiar places, relationships, and routines can sometimes keep old patterns close, even when a person is committed to doing things differently.
A sober living home offers a different daily setting. Recovery becomes part of the household culture, expectations create consistency, and residents live alongside others who are also working to maintain sobriety.
For men from Pacific Palisades, Design for Recovery can provide that environmental shift while allowing them to continue working toward the responsibilities and relationships that matter in their lives.

Life in Our Sober Living Homes
Sober living at Design for Recovery gives residents a place to practice the routines that become important after treatment. Instead of having every part of the day organized for them, residents learn to make their own plans, manage their time, and follow through on the commitments they've chosen to take on.
The home becomes a space where recovery and ordinary life overlap. Residents can work toward career goals, maintain treatment, pursue personal interests, and develop routines that make sobriety sustainable outside of a treatment setting.
That balance is intentional. The goal is not to create a life that depends on sober living indefinitely, but to help residents become comfortable handling more of life on their own while they still have the structure and community of the home around them.
