Why Design for Recovery
Choosing a men's sober living program is about more than finding a place to stay. It's about joining a community that encourages accountability, personal growth, and the development of healthy routines that support lasting recovery. At Design for Recovery, our approach is built around helping residents move forward with confidence while preparing for greater independence.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingConsistent routines and clear expectations help create stability and make healthy habits easier to maintain.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents are encouraged to take ownership of their recovery while receiving support from staff and peers.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving alongside other men working toward similar goals creates connection, encouragement, and a sense of shared purpose.
Growth Through IndependenceEach step of the program is designed to help residents build confidence, strengthen life skills, and prepare for independent living.
Creating Distance From Everyday Triggers
Recovery often becomes easier when you have the opportunity to step away from the people, places, or routines that may have contributed to substance use. Creating some distance from familiar triggers allows space to develop healthier habits and focus on long-term goals.
For men from Silver Lake, sober living offers that change while still making it possible to stay connected to work, education, outpatient care, and supportive relationships throughout Los Angeles.
A structured recovery environment provides consistency, accountability, and a community of peers who understand the challenges of early recovery, making it easier to build a strong foundation before returning to complete independence.

What We Offer

Employment Support
Getting back into the workforce often marks the first real turning point in recovery. Residents get direct help with resumes, interview prep, and the job search itself, backed by the daily accountability that keeps things on track.

Life and Recovery Skills
Sobriety tends to hold up better when the rest of life feels steady. Daily structure and accountability from housemates help residents build lasting habits: budgeting, routine, seeing things through.

12-Step Programming
12-Step principles are woven into how our program runs. We support residents in finding a sponsor, attending meetings regularly, and applying those principles beyond the meeting itself.

One-on-One Mentoring
Each resident also receives individual mentor time, a space to work through what's actually going on beneath the daily routine, not just a check on house rules.

Money Management
Financial pressure is a common, quiet cause of relapse. Residents build practical skills here: budgeting, saving, and money habits that continue to serve them long after they've moved out.

Family Services
Recovery involves more than just the individual resident. We help families understand what genuine support looks like at this stage, and how to stay engaged without hovering.

Medication Monitoring
Consistency matters for residents managing medications. We help keep schedules on track and residents connected to their prescribing clinicians.

Life in Our Sober Living Homes
Life at Design for Recovery is structured around building routines that support lasting sobriety while allowing residents to continue making progress toward their personal goals. Many residents balance recovery with work, school, outpatient treatment, volunteering, or other responsibilities throughout Los Angeles.
Each day is guided by accountability, shared responsibilities, recovery meetings, and meaningful connections with peers who understand the challenges of early recovery. Rather than following a rigid schedule, residents learn how to create healthy habits they can continue long after leaving sober living.
Living in our homes also provides access to Southern California's strong recovery community, giving residents opportunities to build supportive relationships and remain actively engaged in their recovery journey.
