Why Design for Recovery
At Design for Recovery, we focus on helping residents turn recovery into something they can carry into everyday life. That means having enough structure to create consistency while still giving residents responsibility for their choices, routines, and goals.
The environment is designed to encourage participation rather than dependence. Residents have support around them while learning to manage the responsibilities and decisions that come with greater independence.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingClear expectations create consistency around recovery, work, treatment, meetings, and the responsibilities that fill each resident's day.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents are encouraged to follow through on commitments and recognize how their actions affect both their recovery and the community around them.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving with other men who understand the work of sobriety creates opportunities for encouragement, perspective, and connection.
Growth Through IndependenceResidents gradually take greater ownership of their schedules, decisions, and responsibilities as they prepare for life beyond sober living.
Creating Space for Different Choices
Returning to familiar surroundings can sometimes mean returning to familiar patterns. Places, routines, and social situations connected to substance use may continue to influence daily choices even after treatment.
A sober living environment creates a different context for those choices. Residents return to a home where sobriety is expected and where the people around them understand the importance of maintaining recovery.

Life in Our Sober Living Homes
Life at Design for Recovery gives residents room to build a routine that reflects their own responsibilities. Work, school, treatment, meetings, exercise, hobbies, and time with others can all become part of a balanced schedule.
For residents from a community like Redondo Beach, maintaining a connection to everyday life can also mean finding healthy ways to spend time outside formal recovery activities.
The home provides a consistent base while residents figure out that balance. They can manage their own commitments, learn from the experiences of peers, and gradually become more comfortable making choices that support the life they want to build.
