Why Design for Recovery
A stable recovery environment can make it easier to turn intentions into consistent habits. At Design for Recovery, residents have the opportunity to take responsibility for their recovery while learning how to manage the practical demands of everyday life.
The program provides structure without taking away ownership. Residents are expected to participate, make thoughtful decisions, and contribute to their community while receiving guidance and encouragement along the way.
The Foundation Behind Our Program
Structured LivingClear expectations provide a dependable framework for balancing recovery with work, treatment, meetings, and personal responsibilities.
Meaningful AccountabilityResidents are encouraged to follow through on commitments and recognize how their everyday choices affect the progress they are making.
Recovery-Focused CommunityLiving alongside other men committed to sobriety creates opportunities for encouragement, shared perspective, and connection.
Growth Through IndependenceTaking on greater responsibility over time helps residents become more comfortable managing their schedules, decisions, and lives independently.
Building New Patterns in a Different Environment
The surroundings you return to each day can influence which habits feel easiest to fall back into. Familiar routines and social situations connected to substance use can sometimes make it harder to create meaningful change.
A recovery-focused home offers a different daily context. Residents live with clear expectations, return to an environment where sobriety is understood, and have peers around them who are also working toward healthier lives.

Life in Our Sober Living Homes
At Design for Recovery, residents are encouraged to create a routine that works for their individual responsibilities while remaining engaged with the expectations of the home. Work, school, treatment, meetings, exercise, and personal interests can all become part of a balanced schedule.
Lakewood's emphasis on recreation and community can also translate into a broader idea of what residents do with their time. Recovery does not have to revolve around treatment alone.
Inside the home, residents have the opportunity to develop that balance alongside other men in recovery. Over time, managing responsibilities, making time for healthy activities, and staying connected to supportive people can become part of a routine that continues beyond sober living.
